18th May 2008 - THE AGE
By - KAREN LYON
BRISBANE LIONS 8.3 11.8 16.13 18.17 (125)
CARLTON 2.2 4.8 9.14 12.20 (92)
GOALS: Brisbane Lions: Brown 6, Johnstone 3, Black
2, Hooper 2, Adcock, Bradshaw, Corrie, Drummond, Rischitelli.
Carlton: Fevola 5, Murphy 2, Wiggins 2, Betts, Judd,
Russell.
BEST: Brisbane Lions: Brown, Black, Power, Johnstone,
Rischitelli.
Carlton: Murphy, Scotland, Fevola, Judd, Gibbs.
THE BRISBANE Lions showed both sides of their game last night.
There were moments of brilliance — this team has more than
enough class to mix it with the best — and some awful errors
but overall, as the Lions took the pedal off to eventually beat
Carlton by 33 points, they showed they are a team that should help
shape this year's finals.

16th May 2008 - THE AGE
B: Jarrad Waite, Michael Jamison, Kade Simpson HB: Andrew Carrazzo, Paul Bower, Shaun Grigg C: Heath Scotland, Richard Hadley, Jordan Russell HF: Bryce Gibbs, Brad Fisher, Marc Murphy F: Eddie Betts, Brendan Fevola, Setanta O’hAilpin Foll: Cain Ackland, Nick Stevens, Chris Judd I/C: Adam Bentick, Steven Browne, Matthew Kreuzer, Simon Wiggins
The corresponding match last year resulted in Carlton coach Denis Pagan
trudging off to Centrelink after the Blues were de-trousered by a
Jonathan Brown-inspired Lions. Brown kicked 10, and if there is ever a
game in which the Lions spearhead should return to form, this is it. If
Brown fires and in-form Daniel Bradshaw continues his remarkable
return, Brisbane will give Carlton's L-platers in defence the stuff of
nightmares.

| IN THE PRESS : Fevola 'would' get multi-year deal: Ratten |
|
|
 |
15th May 208 - THE AGE
By - NICK SHERIDAN
BRENDAN Fevola will be offered a new contract of more than one
year if Carlton coach Brett Ratten has his way. Fevola's contract expires at the end of 2008 and Ratten expects
the club to begin negotiations over its spearhead's future in the
next month.
The Age reported last month that some within the Carlton
camp believe Fevola should only be offered a one-year deal in an
effort to ensure he behaves himself off the field in the
future. But Ratten indicated yesterday that Fevola has made a strong
contribution to the club in 2008 and is likely to be offered a
longer contract.
"I think if we offer Brendan a contract it probably would be
more than one year, but we'll just wait and see what comes out on
the table," Ratten said. Click Here For More

| IN THE PRESS : Carlton announces resurgence |
|
|
 |
5th May 2008 - HERALD SUN
By - MIKE SHEAHAN
BRETT Ratten said it was time. Time for Carlton to announce its re-emergence as a credible football team. In
his parting message to players before they left the rooms at Subiaco
Oval on Friday night to tackle West Coast, he said: "Let's send a
message to everyone - we're the f---ing real deal."
It was an extension of his theme at the team meeting three hours
earlier, when he said: "We can send a message to the whole AFL they
better start taking us serious." It was rousing stuff from the coach, a Carlton premiership hero and
captain tired of the derision heaped upon his club for six years. What better time for a statement of intent than the day of Chris
Judd's return to Perth - not only as an opposition player, but the
captain of the visitors?
As Carlton director and legend Stephen Kernahan was to say as the
team took the field: "It's a big day for us; we'll never have a better
chance against this mob." Just 12 months ago, with Judd an Eagle and the darling of the club's
massive supporter group, West Coast had beaten the Blues by 61 points
at Subiaco. Ratten had urged his players to make things a little easier for
Juddy by giving him the ball early to build confidence, by supporting
him verbally and physically. Click Here For More
